One strange thing that has happened since about the 2nd week I was here was that random people would ask to take a photo with me. The first few times it happened I was fairly weirded out, but then I thought, well why not? If they take a photo with me, I’ll take a photo with them.
Here are a few so far:
Girl from China whom I met at one of the hostels I was staying at when I first got here. She’s awesome and super friendly. She was also the first person I said yes to taking a photo with.
I was shopping for some gifts for friends in Ximen (sorry I haven’t shipped them out!!!) when I saw these 2 ladies in my peripheral vision. They seemed like they wanted to say something to me, so I finally turned toward them and they asked if they could take a photo with me. They were Japanese tourists. Sure why not? I thought.
Went to a club and met these Korean kids traveling Taiwan. They asked if they could take a photo with me. Sure, why not?
Again found myself in Ximen when these guys asked if they could take a photo with me. They said they liked my tattoos. Sure, why not?
Leaving work, I stopped by some random mom and pop restaurant for some dinner to go. The dad(?) kept asking his daughter to practice her English with me while I tried to figure out the menu in Chinese. In the end they asked if she could take a photo with me. Sure, why not?Near the skatepark this girl stopped and asked if she could take a photo with me. Sure, why not?
I still don’t know exactly why these random people want to take a photo with me. Do I look that strange? What do they do with the photo? Why take a photo with me in the first place? What’s the caption?
I’m sure I’ll keep updating this.
