As I was watching the previous videos by South Korean bands ADG7 and Leenalchi, I kept thinking of this band- Seppuku Pistols. But, unlike the previous bands mentioned, they aren’t bringing the traditional and vamping it up with the modern, they are bringing the traditional and smashing into modern time’s face.
Wearing “noragi” (farm clothes), Seppuku Pistols is a travelling theatre and musical group that performs across Japan playing traditional Japanese musical instruments such as the taiko and shamisen.

Su sonido procede de música que podríamos escuchar perfectamente en matsuris y rituales tradicionales de todo tipo en Japón. Sin embargo son constantemente alterados, llevando cánticos y compases a velocidades extremas, creando una sensación frenética y alocada que nada tiene que enviar al hardcore punk. Una acusación común es la que sentencia que no se trata de una banda punk rock. En parte tienen razón, sin embargo lo rudimentario y contundente del sonido, que a menudo se apoya en el sonido de un distorsionadísimo shamisen eléctrico de fondo, y su actitud rebelde y antisistema sobre el escenario y fuera de este… ¡los hace mucho más punk que otras bandas! Seppuku Pistols puede con todo e incluso se atreven con covers muy particulares como es el caso del clásico ochentero To Drunk To Fuck de los Dead Kennedys o el I Wanna Be Your Dog de los Sex Pistols, transformado en un I Wanna Be Your Wolf.
