You know that feeling where you’ve stumbled upon something strange but really exciting? This band is just that. This first song/video I saw instantly sucked me in. I wouldn’t mind watching them do a street performance, especially with the percussionists in the back!
ADG7 performs repertoire from the sacred, shamanic and secular gut (ritual music) and minyo (folk song) traditions of the Hwanghae-do region, nowadays a western province of North Korea.

I seem to be finding a lot of these styles of groups that are doing this kind of generational music bending and mixing. It’s the blending of traditional art meets modern music. Another band that comes to mind, from a totally different country and style, but still as captivating and entertaining is Seppuku Pistols.
